Finally, the lines have been drawn between Serbia and Kosovo – some will oppose it and some may call it a good move towards peace, however, on the initial stages, breaking away, as some argue, makes more sense than to fight for the unification of Serbia, and yes, but long way for the peace yet, I would add surely.
This is another fallout in Europe and thousand smiles on US statesmen who rejoice giving impetus to new race to breakaway provinces and now Russia – US prime target to sideline – may bear the burnt of the divide drive. Lines have not only been drawn between Kosovo and Serbia, but it’s surely the return of cold war.
There were always two groups on the issue, as usual, defying group includes Russia and China who’ve their own reasons to defy Kosovo independence and so do the US, France and UK who support it. Tatarstan, an energy rich province, and Chechnya in Russia whereas Taiwan, administered by China, will follow the suit.
US has more reasons than France and UK to support Kosovo independence. With declining dollar value and sub-prime crises, US fears the threat to its hegemony. Additionally, growing Russian influence is proving the pinch of salt to US, so, this upheaval in Europe can best be termed as victory of US foreign policy. This is the only reason why US is helping the Baltic republics like Poland for instance, with moral and financial support and luring them with EU membership to play a wider role that their economic weight actually allows them to. US even put bait to Serbia as a move to bargain Kosovo independence with EU membership, because US want to add its cronies to EU to dump Russian influence and the way US is succeeding in Europe, straightway point to one thing – more US will be there less will be Russia there.
Let’s back to the peace again. The very argument of peace for Kosovo started withering on the very next day when the Serbs attacked and burned Banja and Jarinje, official checkpoints on the border with Serbia guarded by ethnic Serb members of Kosovo’s multi-ethnic police. This is the clear indication that Albanians and Serbs couldn’t go hand in hand with peaceful borders. Now where does the question of peace in Europe arise from?
In the move to let world (once again) talk of US as Liberator, Savior and blah, blah…a nation has been divided to pave the way for yet another genocide, but this time, it’s not going to be “a fight for justice over genocide” rather a war to siege the strategic shift between Russian and the western allies. With all the moribund affairs going on, how successfully NATO, UN and independence favoring nations will stem the bloodshed, let’s wait and watch.
